Keynote Talk at the EAWOP 2023 Conference in Katowice, Poland - May 26th, 2023
On May 26th, 2023, I delivered a keynote talk during the bi-annual conference of the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP) in Katowice, Poland. It was a joint presentation with Professor Beatrice van der Heijden (Radboud University Nijmegen) in which we shared some of the latest insights into research on sustainable careers and career shocks. Among other things, we talked about our conceptual model of sustainable careers, and some of the research it has spurred since we published it. Furthermore, I discussed the conceptualization of career shocks that I use in my research, and how this can help us understand modern careers more accurately. We also shared some of the projects we are currently doing, such as developing scales for sustainable career orientations and career shocks.
It was truly an honor to be invited as a keynote lecturer during the EAWOP conference. This was one of the first conferences I ever attended when starting my academic career as a doctoral student. To be able to stand there and deliver a keynote at this specific conference was a special moment for me that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Besides the keynote, I participated in many other exciting activities. For example, I moderated a panel debate about sustainable careers in disruptive times. In addition, I had the pleasure of acting as a discussant during symposia on career transitions and sustainable careers. I also organized a symposium about career shocks myself. Overall, EAWOP 2023 was a fantastic experience!
